Summary:
Abriella has weaves a tangled web for herself in the land of the fae. As the war rages in the Court of Darkness, Abriella must decide which prince she can trust and if she can even trust herself. Either way she has a role to play and the fae realm may be forever changed.
My Thoughts:
To start out, I think this book was better than the first but I still found a lot lacking.
Brie is much more likable in this book. I think Misha’s character has a lot to do with that and I love him even more for it! While there is some character development, it feels a little lacking and Brie’s ultimate self discovery came across as a little too simple in terms of the basic premise and how quickly she managed to accomplish that growth.
Past the character development, the story was enjoyable. Parts of the story, such as the flirtations between characters and the magical aspects, were very well done. The pacing of the story was a little odd for me. The explanation of the Great War was something I would have expected in book one. The ending to the story felt like there was more of a focus on creating a decent ending rather than focusing on the actual story and feelings behind the events of the ending. Much of the story was predictable so the ending didn’t come as a surprise.
Generally I feel like the story had the potential to be really great and even a five star read but so much of it fell short for me that I think it’s only a good read. The duology was good and enjoyable but could have been so much more. What do you think?
