A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy, Sierra Simone

Summary:

Bee, aka Bianca Von Honey, finally has the opportunity to do some acting with her clothes on after the lead actress of a new Christmas film gets injured. To put the cherry on top, Bee will be acting across from her childhood crush Nolan Shaw. Nolan is trying to reestablish his career and turn over a new leaf from his bad boy days in the boy band INK. The last thing he expected was to be acting across from his favorite porn star and girl of his fantasies. No one can find out Bee is a porn star and Nolan needs to keep his image clean but can they fight the growing sexual tension to make sure they don’t lose the chance for a new future?

My Thoughts:

I absolutely adore Julie Murphy and was excited to hear she would be doing an adult romance novel with some spice. I haven’t read much of Sierra Simone but I hope to after this!

Unfortunately, my expectations might have been a little too high for this one. I had some mixed feelings about the book however that did not stop me from enjoying it!

The spice in this book was perfect for romance lovers that want something more steamy from their reads. This was one area that the book did not fall short.

Getting to the spice between the two characters though? It was an awkward journey at first. The sexual frustration felt by the characters seemed overdone at first. Maybe I’m used to more of a slow burn but the writing just seemed to be screaming when will they have sex from the very beginning?

When they do finally do the tango, I was left with some confusion about whether it was just living out a fantasy or if there was actual connection between the two. The lack of clarity or suggestion as to what exactly is going on between the two for the first half of the book was a little off putting and made me question any connection between the two

Once I got to the second half of the book, I couldn’t put it down! Their feelings were finally clear, they were enjoying themselves, and they had hope for a future.

As I’ve come to expect from Julie, there was some great representation for the bisexual community, for the plus size community, and maybe even a little for female sex workers.

Given the length of the book, the main conflict and resolution felt rushed having only taken up a small portion of the book.

Overall, a genuinely good and enjoyable read. I’m so glad I read it and look forward to the other releases both authors have announced following this book!
