Secretly Yours by Tessa Bailey

Summary:
Hallie has had a crush on Julian Vos since high school. When she find out he’s returned home, she thinks this may be her change to get that kiss they almost had. Julian is home to write a novel and all he wants is some dedicated distraction free writing time. Unfortunately, Hallie is one big distraction and undeniably beautiful. They soon realize just how different they are and how bad of an idea it is to be around each other. But an inebriated Hallie can’t let go without letting her feelings out in a Secret Admirer letter. When she realized Julian read the letter and didn’t seem to mind it, can she let go of this crush she has? Julian has a secret admirer that is making him question things about himself but he cannot escape his attraction to Hallie.
My Thoughts:
Not a bad read. I know that’s not exactly the words you would expect from a good review to start but let me explain.
I like Hallie and Julian as characters and I think the story is good. Their attraction in undeniable and it’s such a fun high school crush storyline.
There’s also some really great character development there for a book I expected to be so lighthearted.
The secret admirer letters were cute but struck me as an odd thing exchange for a couple of 30 year olds. A cute idea no doubt but not something I really want to read in an adult romance novel. This is my first time reading a Tessa Bailey book so there is a chance I’m just not used to her writing style or maybe I’ve outgrown some tropes.
And this book is definitely adult romance because there is some nice spice in this book. I did find some of the lines to be a little cringey but that is just my personal view.
Overall a cute read and I look forward to trying another Tessa Bailey book.
