A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating A Demon by Sarah Hawley

Summary:

Mariel has never been good at magic despite being prophesized as the next most powerful witch. During one of her many spells gone wrong, she accidentally summons a demon. Ozroth the Ruthless was once the best souls bargainer but he needs a good bargain to put him back on top and the soul of a powerful witch would be perfect. In order to ovoid her mother finding out about her colossal mistake, she tells her mother that her and Oz are dating. Oz is set on trying to make a bargain while Mariel tries to figure out a way out of the soul bargain. The problem: Oz seems to be the only one to truly understand Mariel and Mariel is not what Oz expected from a witch. Forced to stay together until a bargain has been made, they find out more about each other than they bargained for and find an attraction that they may not be able to resist.

My Thoughts:

I need more books like this in the world! I wasn’t sure what I was expecting but this book exceeded any expectations I had.

This book is obviously about a romance between Mariel and Oz and it was pretty well written as such. The banter and the dynamic at the beginning was so fun to read and the progression from there was so sweet. There is also some good demon spice because what kind of demon romance would this be without it?

What I did not expect was how fun the magical aspects were. This is the first book I’ve read that while clearly a romance has fantastical elements. As a nature lover, I appreciated the nature magic.

The plot twist, along with some aspects, was pretty predictable in my opinion but the ending was not. I had no idea how it would end but I loved how it did.

I highly recommend grabbing this book as soon as you get the chance!
