All for One by Melissa de la Cruz
Summary:
The final book in the Alex and Eliza trilogy. Eliza take in an orphaned girl and agrees to look after her brother starting school. Alex take on a more and potentially problematic clients. Along with societal obligations and a growing family, Alex and Eliza find their marriage tested in more ways than one.
My Thoughts:
I made it to the third book excited to see how the story would end and how Alex and Eliza’s relationship fared. It started out much the same and with Alex being too busy and Eliza finding ways to occupy her time.
Then Maria was introduced with some ominous foreshadowing. Alex and Eliza finally are able to expect a child but both are in the midst of trying to accomplish things.
They have their first argument in this book which I thought was about time it happened. However, I feel Eliza was too easy on Alex and clearly Alex did not feel his wife was someone he could go to at that moment.
The major conflict of the story is Alex’s actions. His actions during a time when is wife is pregnant and sick while traveling are shocking.
I understand the need for certain events to happen in the book as they are referencing actual historical events. However, Eliza’s reaction and the lack of background from all points of view with the major conflict at the end left me disappointed.
What I did appreciate was the explanation of Eliza’s understanding and forgiveness of Alex’s actions. From this point, the books just kind of went on to touch on some key moments and then ended.
Overall, I would say this book is a good read but I’m not sure I would recommend the series overall. I will say I now want to read Alexander Hamilton so hopefully that review is to come in the future.
