Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan

Summary:

Their love was supposed to be forever. But, after so much loss, their love didn’t survive and now they must navigate their lives as co-parents and business partners. New challenges will make them question if they can truly put a love like theirs in the past.

My Thoughts:

The book is set up beautifully from the beginning and establishes that you will be reading a love story. Based off the first couple of chapters, I was honestly expecting to to read about a terrible heartbreak and cry my eyes out. I’m happy to say that wasn’t necessarily the case.

I love Yasmen as a character. I absolutely love her self love and strength. Josiah is a great man and is a great character as well.

There is so much to unpack in this story! The author did a wonderful job of explaining what happened, showing perspectives, and demonstrating the growth of characters.

The sensitivity of some of the topics was handled extremely well. The emotional depth described in this book only adds to the care given to writing about such topics.

As if it weren’t clear how well Kennedy Ryan could tell a story between two partners, she also demonstrated her ability to fully flesh out her other characters. The children, the friends, the neighbors, it was all orchestrated beautifully.

I appreciated the focus on how things affected the children in the story. So many times, in writing and real life, there isn’t a lot of consideration to how children are affected.

This was an amazing book and one I would recommend but it has some series themes and therefore may not be for everyone.
