Blood and Wonder: A Medicus Corpus Novel by Kami King Larsen

Summary:

Aurelia, Roe, and Hale have known each other for years and will be starting their new lives together in Devil’s Meadow. To do so, they must make the dangerous journey through the desert. Along the way, they will face thieves and sick patients. To make matters worse, a group claiming to work miracles singles out Aurelia as having magic. Aurelia, Roe, and Hale must trust each other and what they have been taught along the way to avoid the miracle workers and any other complications.

My Thoughts:

Wow. I wasn’t sure I would be leaving a review for this one because I always feel a little weird review the work of people I’m connected with. She had no idea I would reading her book or leaving this review.

Kami has a way of writing that flows well and keeps you interested from the beginning. I read this book so quickly without even realizing it and what a unique world she has created!

The characters are well developed and there is some decent growth there.

The book only covers the journey to the destination so there are so many questions left unanswered! I’m hoping the next book will shed some light on how the world got the way it did and maybe some background on wonder work.

Either way, I’m glad I picked up this book and looking forward to reading the second!
