Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Note: Crooked Kingdom is the sequel to Six of Crows so this review may contain spoilers. Click here to read my review of Six of Crows.

Overview:

Kaz and his crew have come back from the Ice Court only to find that they’ve been double-crossed and have one of their members taken hostage. Now they must find a way to get what was taken from them and a way to best a guy that basically controls the city in order to make sure that person with the most knowledge of jurda parem (a drug that enhances Grisha abilities) doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

My Thoughts:

First off, I loved this book! It was everything I could have hoped for in a sequel with tons of action and a good ending.

This book definitely had me wondering what was going to happen next with every chapter. The author brought in some new characters that mixed things up in a very interesting way. Kaz finally confronts Pekka Rollins about what happened when Kaz was a boy (read the first book if you don’t know what I’m talking about) so I definitely recommend reading this book to find out how that went.

Leigh did an amazing job with orchestrating this story. The story lines, the scenarios, the planning and the scheming all come together well. My only wish was that Kaz had progressed more in a personal sense especially in regards to his relationship with Inej. Even with that, I cannot say I was dissatisfied with the book.

Overall, I don’t really have any complaints about this book. I think that, in addition to Six of Crows, you should drop everything and read this book and let me know what you think!
