Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano

Summary:

Finlay Donovan is a struggling novelist and single mom trying to come up with the plot of her next suspense novel. Overhearing Finlay’s discussion with her agent about the plot of her book, a woman mistakes Finlay for a contract killer for hire. Finlay inadvertently accepts the job and finds herself at the center of a murder investigation. She must make sure no one ever finds out about her involvement all while writing her next novel which may be a little to close to the truth.

My Thoughts:

The first couple of chapters made me question how much I was going to like this book. However, once the plot line picks up, I needed to know what happened next.

This book is funny and engrossing at times but ridiculous and surreal at others. Even now, I am a little unsure how to feel about the book.

The outcome of the “job” Finlay takes is a surprise which was interesting to read but the second “job” was predictable to me. I love that Finlay has an accomplice in all this and I think Vero was one of my favorite characters overall.

Getting to the end, I was glad to have read the book but do not plan on reading the next one in the series. Overall a good read but not great in my opinion.
