My Thoughts:
I could tell this was going to be a good book from chapter one. Now for those who decide to read this book, I’m not saying the beginning is necessarily pleasant so be warned there are some content warnings.
The author did an amazing job with building Morgan’s character. You’ve got this girl who is surviving the only way she knows how. Her skills at doing so aren’t exaggerated or all that skillful. There are times where she lacks a sense of self preservation but maybe that’s a result of the trauma she’s experienced. She’s a princess in title only and the author does a great job of displaying this. By the end, Morgan has some character growth but I expect there is much more to come later in the series.
I knew Draven would be a main part of the story as soon as he was introduced. His role was not quite what I had guessed for this book but again I think more of his role will be revealed in coming books. I’m very interested to see the connection between him and Morgan and to find out more about him and his past.
Writing this review, I’m realizing the entire novel is really just a good setup for what’s to come. This is normal for fantasy series but not all of them keep you interested like this one did.
This an amazing book. Admittedly, not for everyone with the content and the lack of information but still so good!
