Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

Summary:

Briana’s life is at a low point with her divorce becoming final and her brother in kidney failure. Even the promotion that was on the horizon is off the table. The new doctor, Dr. Jacob Maddox, has managed to make some bad first impressions and get her on her never. But, maybe those impressions are wrong especially after the very thoughtful letter Jacob wrote her. When Briana finds out Jacob will be donating a kidney to her brother, she realizes what a great person he is and do anything to thank him including pretending to be his girlfriend. Both are getting over bad relationship but maybe they will find what it means to be loved even if it’s not real.

My Thoughts:

I loved this book even more than Part of Your World. I have so many positive things to say about this book that I don’t know where to begin.

The characters were amazing! Both Briana and Jacob had such distinctive personalities and growth as characters. I admired that through the characters, the author tackled tough subjects such as anxiety. It’s the tough situations and subjects that makes a story like this truly moving. 

While there is the whole fake dating trope going on, the author pokes fun at other romcom tropes which was fun. Tropes can be pretty easy to mess up but this one was done well. The sequence in which things progressed felt natural despite the very unnatural set up.

The story was funny, enjoyable, and heartbreaking at times. I suggest dropping everything else to go read this book!
